The anticipation guide reading strategy is an activity that is designed to activate the prior knowledge and experiences of our students. This strategy also allows you to build curiosity and intrigue about the new topic or concept. The anticipation guide reading strategy should be completed before reading a selection of texts with students responding to numerous statements that challenge or support key concepts about the text. This strategy can then be revisited after reading to evaluate how well your students have understood and comprehended new materials.
